i’ll be honest, some of my favorite sessions happen right inside your own home!!


nick and courtney invited me into their peoria home to capture their pregnancy announcement, and from the minute i walked in, the vibe was easy. these two were so laid back and so fun, and they could not stop smiling about the fact that their first baby is on the way.


if you’re thinking about an at-home announcement session, here’s what i love about it:


– you’re comfortable, so the photos feel natural instead of posed

– you can include the little things that make your home yours

– there’s no rushing, no crowds, and no scrambling to find parking

– you can start whenever you’re ready, and take breaks whenever you want


we kept things simple. started with arranging a few flowers, looked at sonograms of baby, and just hung out in their living room. nick and courtney laughed through most of it, and that laughter is all over their gallery. the tender moments are in there too, like the two of them leaning in close and dreaming about what’s ahead.


then, right at the end, libby made her grand entrance!! their dog wandered in like she knew exactly what was going on, and honestly, she stole the show. a pregnancy announcement feels so much more complete when the whole family is in it, fur babies included.


one day, this baby is going to look back on these photos and see the love his/her parents have for them already. that’s why i love documenting these early chapters, and why a session in your own home can be just as special as one at a fancy location.


planning an announcement of your own? my tip is to pick a time of day when your home gets good natural light, and let your pets join in on the fun. they make the best photo bombers!!
